We’ve got some exciting news to share—Shayla just won Best Coming-of-Age Film at the Couch Film Festival! This festival is all about celebrating bold, heartfelt stories, and we’re incredibly honored to be recognized among such a strong lineup of independent films. This award means a lot to us—not just because it highlights the work we’ve all put in, but because it reinforces why we told this story in the first place. Shayla is about finding your voice. It’s about identity, bullying, inner strength, and all the things we carry with us as we grow up. Seeing audiences connect with it (and getting to hear that connection echoed by the Couch FF jury) has been profoundly moving. We’re proud of everyone who made this film possible—our cast, crew, community partners, and everyone who’s supported the project along the way. Special shoutout to Anthony Tackett for the gorgeous cinematography, and to the performers who brought so much heart and honesty to the screen. We’ll be announcing a public screening in Seattle later this summer, so stay tuned for that! And in the meantime, we’re keeping the momentum going… 👉 Black Iris, our next short film, is now in pre-production. If you’d like to get involved, help us spread the word, or check out our Indiegogo campaign, you can do that here: Thanks again to the Couch Film Festival—and to all of you—for being part of this journey. More to come. — Shawn & the Radio Tribe team #ShaylaTheFilm #RadioTribeProductions #CouchFilmFestival #ComingOfAge #SeattleFilm #BlackVoicesInFilm #IndependentFilm #BlackIris |
